Srijan Sujan
Academic Award

The focus of the main project of Srijan Sujan rests on facilitating the path of higher education for the young and bright minds who face severe economic impediment. Srijan Sujan raises money through a contributory model to fund the higher studies of such talented yet necessitous students. In view of reaching out to lot of students effectively Srijan Sujan has decided to restrict itself demographically to the students of West Bengal for the moment.

Primarily students, who cannot afford higher education after their Higher Secondary, can apply for monetary assistance from Srijan Sujan. Their respective needs are addressed through an award known as Srijan Sujan Academic Award. The money of this award is given quarterly to the students which may pay for a lot of different requirements within the perimeter of a student's life.

The students applying for the award are either scouted by our volunteers, or recommended by a reliable source. Meticulous checks are done to ensure eligibility of the students for the grant both from the academic and financial points of view. Apart from this, Srijan Sujan pays for a substantial medical insurance for each beneficiary. For more details have a look at our FAQ page.

Currently, Srijan Sujan has 75 beneficiaries who are pursuing their dreams fighting with adversities at various levels. Please visit our Beneficiaries page to know about the inspiring success stories of the students.

Apart from our Academic Award programme, we have also undertaken a project named Srijan Sujan Book Bank to help our beneficiary friends with academic books and other relevant study material. Although a part of the academic (financial) grant is used by the beneficiaries to buy books, it may not suffice to cover all their requirements. Hence, the idea of this book bank was conceived.

The books, for this book bank, have been donated or lent by our members and other well wishers, and the beneficiaries have access to the complete list of the  available books. They are free to borrow these books, as per their requirements, and can keep them for a semester, a year or even the full duration of their course.

Free Tutorial Classes

One of our members, Asim Sengupta, FCA and ex-Chief Manager (Finance) ECL, is offering Coaching Classes to students of the commerce stream in the Belgharia area, in the north of Kolkata. Those aspiring to become Chartered Accountants are the primary target of this programme. Needy but meritorious students registered through or recommended by Srijan Sujan will receive this coaching free of cost

Furthermore, if other undergraduate commerce students face any difficulties related to Accountancy, Asim Sengupta is willing to organise Free Advisory Sessions for them. The idea is to periodically discuss and systematically explain any issue concerning their immediate problems.

These initiatives mark the opening of a new chapter in Srijan Sujan’s attempt to stand by the less fortunate but talented students of the commerce stream. In future we hope to initiate similar programmes for the benefit of students of other streams as well.

In 2016, two students, Sudhendu Ghorai and Krishnendu Patra, joined this coaching programme through Srijan Sujan. Both of them obtained their B. Com. degrees from Panskura College with first class. Sudhendu not only came first in his college but also secured the third rank in Vidyasagar University. Both Krishnendu and Sudhendu wish to pursue careers as Chartered Accountants.
